You May Be Looking for Help With…
Getting a clear, personalized picture of what you may actually need to retire on your terms
Understanding whether your current savings rate and investment mix are appropriate for the timeline you have in mind
Figuring out what to do with old 401(k) accounts from previous employers that are sitting without a coordinated strategy
Evaluating Roth conversion opportunities, catch-up contribution strategies, and account structuring while you still have time to act on them
Managing concern about the impact a significant market decline near retirement could have on your timeline and retirement date
How BDB Wealth Can Help
Retirement Readiness Review
We look at your current savings, expected income sources, anticipated expenses, and retirement timeline to give you a realistic picture of where you stand and what, if anything, may need to change.
Tax-Bracket and Account Strategy
We can help you evaluate Roth conversion opportunities, catch-up contributions, and account diversification while you’re still in the accumulation phase and the decisions have the most impact.
Portfolio Positioning
We help ensure your investment mix and risk level are appropriate for how close you are to needing income from those assets — so a difficult market year near retirement doesn’t derail your timeline.
Account Consolidation
We can help bring old employer retirement accounts into a coordinated investment strategy rather than leaving them scattered and unmanaged.
Ongoing Portfolio Management
Fee-based, fiduciary investment management with at least quarterly reviews for clients ready to move forward.
Our Approach
1. Start with your retirement goals, timeline, income sources, and current financial picture.
2. Build an Investment Policy Statement suited to your pre-retirement situation and risk tolerance.
3. Manage your portfolio with at least quarterly reviews, adjusting the strategy as your retirement date approaches.
4. Coordinate with your CPA and other professionals as appropriate.
Our Fees
Investment management is charged as an annual advisory fee based on assets under management, billed monthly in arrears. Fees are generally negotiable and documented in your advisory agreement. We do not collect fees in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
There’s no universal answer, it depends on your expected spending, income sources (Social Security, pensions, part-time work), investment returns, healthcare costs, and how long your money needs to last. We can walk through the key variables and help you build a more personalized picture than a generic estimate.
-
No — the years immediately before retirement can be some of the most impactful for financial planning decisions. Roth conversion opportunities, account structuring, Social Security timing, and portfolio positioning are all areas where decisions made now may affect the years that follow.
-
It depends on your specific situation, fees, investment options, and tax implications all factor in. This is exactly the type of question we’d address in a planning conversation. It is not a one size fits all answer.
-
A Roth conversion involves moving money from a pre-tax retirement account (traditional IRA or 401(k)) to a Roth IRA and paying income tax on the converted amount now, in exchange for taxfree growth and withdrawals later. Whether it may make sense depends on your current and expected future tax situation, timeline, and other factors.
-
Investment management is charged as an annual fee on assets under management, no commissions on investments. Financial planning is charged separately as a fixed project, hourly, or monthly subscription. See our full fee schedule for details.
-
$10,000 for investment management, which may be waived at our discretion.
