Who This Page Is For
This page is for families and individuals whose financial picture has grown complex That typically means:
• Multiple investment accounts across different account types and custodians
• Taxable portfolios, tax-deferred accounts, and Roth accounts that need to work together
• Business interests — active or passive — that interact with personal financial decisions
• Trust or estate structures that involve coordinating with attorneys and other professionals
• Charitable giving intentions — whether through a donor-advised fund, a charitable trust, or direct giving
• Adult children or multigenerational family wealth considerations
• Insurance policies, real property, and other assets that aren’t simply managed in one place Complexity itself is not a problem, uncoordinated complexity is.
You May Be Looking for Help With…
Getting a unified picture of your full financial situation — accounts, assets, liabilities, income, and goals — in one place, reviewed by a single fiduciary adviser who sees the whole picture
Coordinating investment decisions across multiple account types and custodians so they reflect a coherent overall strategy rather than a collection of independent positions
Making sure your personal financial plan accounts for your business interests — equity, liquidity events, retirement plan, and eventual transition — not just your personal accounts
Tax-aware investment management and coordination with your CPA on strategies like tax-loss harvesting, Roth conversions, asset location, and charitable giving
Estate planning coordination — ensuring your investment accounts, beneficiary designations, and titling align with your estate documents rather than working against them
Working with an adviser who can communicate effectively with your attorney, CPA, and other professionals — and who understands their role is coordination, not replacement
How BDB Wealth Can Help
Whole-Picture Portfolio Management
We manage portfolios with visibility into the full picture — multiple accounts, account types, and asset classes — with an Investment Policy Statement that reflects your actual situation, not just the slice of it we happen to hold. Reviews at least quarterly; adjustments coordinated across the full household.
Tax-Aware Investment Strategy
We work with your CPA to incorporate tax considerations into investment decisions — asset location across account types, tax-loss harvesting in taxable accounts, Roth conversion planning, and coordinated distributions. We provide the investment management; your CPA handles tax preparation and filing.
Business and Personal Coordination
For clients with active or recently exited business interests, we coordinate the business financial picture with the personal — retirement plan selection and management, deferred compensation, corporate cash reserves, and long-term transition planning.
Estate and Trust Coordination
We work alongside your estate attorney to ensure investment accounts, beneficiary designations, and account titling align with your estate plan. For clients with trust structures, we manage trust investment accounts with the same fiduciary discipline as personal accounts.
Charitable Giving Strategy
For clients with philanthropic goals, we can help incorporate giving into the overall financial strategy — coordinating with your CPA and estate attorney on efficient giving structures. We do not manage donor-advised funds directly, but we coordinate with those structures as part of your broader plan.
Multigenerational Considerations
For families thinking about wealth transfer — to children, grandchildren, or charitable causes — we help incorporate those goals into the overall investment and planning picture, coordinating with your estate attorney on the structure and with your CPA on the tax implications.
Professional Network Coordination
We work alongside your existing CPA, estate attorney, insurance professionals, and other advisers. Our role is to be the financial planning and investment management hub that keeps the other pieces coordinated — not to replace any of them.
Our Approach
1. Start with a full-picture conversation — your accounts, assets, business interests, estate structure, income, goals, and the professionals already involved.
2. Build a comprehensive Investment Policy Statement that reflects your complete situation and coordinates across all account types.
3. Manage the portfolio with at least quarterly reviews, tax-aware decision-making, and coordination with your CPA and attorney.
4. Review and update proactively — life changes, tax law changes, and market conditions all affect a complex financial picture. We track them so you don't have to.
5. Serve as your financial coordination point — the adviser who sees the full picture and keeps the pieces working together.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Our primary custodian recommendation is Altruist Financial LLC. For new clients, we typically consolidate accounts at Altruist to enable coordinated management. We can discuss your specific situation during our initial conversation — if there is a reason certain accounts need to remain elsewhere, we will work through the options with you.
-
Your CPA focuses on tax compliance and filing; your attorney focuses on legal structure and documents. A fiduciary investment adviser fills the space in between: managing the actual assets, making investment decisions consistent with your tax situation and estate plan, and serving as the coordination point that keeps all three working from the same picture. In a complex situation, these three roles are most valuable when they are actively communicating rather than operating independently.
-
We incorporate tax awareness into investment decision-making — identifying loss-harvesting opportunities in taxable accounts, positioning assets in the most tax-efficient account types, and coordinating with your CPA on the implications of major investment decisions. We provide the investment management; your CPA handles tax preparation, filing, and formal tax advice.
-
Yes. We manage trust investment accounts on the same fiduciary basis as personal accounts, with a separate Investment Policy Statement aligned to the trust’s purpose and terms. We work alongside your estate attorney on the investment management aspects of the trust.
-
Yes — coordinating business and personal financial pictures is one of the specific things we do for clients with business interests. We can manage corporate cash reserves, deferred compensation plan assets, and other business-owned accounts alongside personal portfolios.
-
$10,000 for investment management, which may be waived at our discretion. For the high-networth coordination services described on this page, the engagement is typically most effective starting in the $250,000+ range where the tiered planning services become most relevant.
