Your Organization Has a Mission.
Your Investment Portfolio Should Support It.
BDB Wealth Advisors helps nonprofit organizations and charitable institutions evaluate their investment strategy and establish an approach that reflects their objectives, time horizon, liquidity needs, and fiduciary responsibilities, so the investment side of your organization is as intentional as the mission side.
We begin by understanding your organization;
not with an investment product.
A Note on Our Role — Important
Scope of Services BDB Wealth Advisors provides investment management and financial planning services. We do not provide legal counsel, accounting or audit services, grant management, or nonprofit governance consulting. Our focus is the investment and financial planning pieces that fall within our scope as a registered investment adviser — coordinating with your legal counsel, auditors, and other professionals as needed.
You May Be Looking for Help With…
An Investment Policy Statement (IPS) that is outdated, missing, or was written by a former board member and has not been revisited in years
Uncertainty about whether your current investment approach appropriately balances current spending needs with long-term endowment sustainability
Board members who carry fiduciary responsibility for the organization's investments but may not have investment management backgroundsInvestment reporting that can actually be presented at board meetings; clear, organized, and without dense financial jargon
Finding an adviser who understands nonprofit governance and fiduciary obligations, not one whose practice is built entirely around individual investors
How BDB Wealth Can Help
Investment Policy Statement Development
We can help develop or update a clear, written IPS that the full board can understand — establishing investment objectives, risk parameters, asset allocation targets, and governance procedures in plain language. An IPS that survives board member turnover.
Investment Strategy Review
We can evaluate whether your current portfolio approach is aligned with your organization’s spending policy, time horizon, liquidity needs, and risk considerations — and identify where adjustments may be warranted.
Ongoing Portfolio Management
Fee-based, fiduciary investment management with no commissions — reviewed at least quarterly, with clear documentation of the investment process.
Board-Ready Reporting
Quarterly investment updates structured for board presentation — not dense statements that require an investment background to interpret.
Spending Policy Coordination
We can help think through how your spending policy interacts with your investment returns and principal preservation goals, so those trade-offs are explicit and consistently applied rather than decided differently at each board meeting.
Our Approach
1. Start by understanding your organization — its mission, asset base, spending requirements, and existing governance structure.
2. Develop or review an Investment Policy Statement appropriate to your organization's objectives.
3. Manage the portfolio with at least quarterly reviews and board-ready reporting.
4. Coordinate with your legal counsel, auditors, and other professionals as needed.
Our Fees
Investment management for nonprofit and charitable accounts is charged as an annual advisory fee based on assets under management, billed monthly in arrears. Fees are generally negotiable and documented in your advisory agreement. We do not collect fees in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We work with charitable organizations at various asset levels. Our account minimum is $10,000, which may be waived at our discretion. If your organization is smaller, we are happy to have a conversation and help you understand what a professional investment management relationship might look like.
-
No. Our role is investment management and financial planning — within our scope as a registered investment adviser. Your CPA handles audit and tax compliance; your attorney handles governance and legal matters. We work alongside your existing team.
-
An IPS is a written document that establishes your organization’s investment objectives, risk tolerance, asset allocation targets, liquidity requirements, and governance procedures for investment decisions. It is a foundational tool for board fiduciary accountability — it documents that investment assets are being managed according to a thoughtful, consistent process. Many organizations either don’t have one or have one that hasn’t been updated in years; both create risk.
-
That tension is at the heart of endowment management. A well-constructed IPS and spending policy framework makes those trade-offs explicit and consistently applied — rather than being revisited from scratch at each board meeting. Working through that framework together would be a central part of any engagement.
-
Yes. Board presentations and investment updates are a standard part of how we serve nonprofit clients. Clear, organized reporting designed for board review is part of the engagement.
-
The same way as other accounts — an annual advisory fee on assets under management, billed monthly in arrears. IPS development and financial planning work is priced separately. See the full fee schedule at bdbwealthadvisors.com/fees
